Great Sale Finds: All Out Clearance Sale at Robinsons Malls

por | | 0 comments

My event: August 1, 2010

Robinsons Galleria
EDSA cor. Ortigas Ave.,
Quezon City

I was one of the few lucky bloggers invited on the first day All Out Clearance Sale in Robinsons Galleria. I was excited, of course! It only means one thing- SHOPPING! It's every girl's dream!

Everything is perfect that day! I put on comfy clothes and flat sandals so I can scout each and every store on the list provided. I got a shopping buddy, AC as SALE spotter. She can spot a sale few meters ahead haha And I got my trusted Canon Ixus860IS on hand to capture everything for my blog! Plus, a Robinsons Mall eco bag in yellow (duh? I'm always in fashion lol) if I found a something something that proves to be irresistible.

AC and I decided to work our way from the top of the mall to the ground floor. I wore my Robinsons Mall GUEST BLOGGER ID just in case someone would question us. It's like an all access pass and I can take pictures in each and every store I visited haha

I look at the list and decided that I'll go in a store that I am familiar with. Since I usually buy at OshKosh B'gosh for every kiddie occasion possible like birthday, christening, and Christmas, it is but right to visit this store first. Yeah, my friends who got my present/s for their kids should probably know this by now. I can't help it, OshKosh B'gosh has the cutest little dress, polo, pants and even bags at very affordable price!

 pink dress PhP384.75

blue polo PhP349.75

When I entered the store, a sales person readily assisted me and help me dig in a pile of sale items. I found this pink dress at 50% off. Great luck! I still had to find something for a boy and the sales person handed me a blue polo. And guess what? 50% off! What a bargain!

On the same level, ToysRus was screaming right at us. I asked for clay because I remembered Clyde, my friend's kid, would have fun with it!

originally priced at PhP229.75 now PhP100

Ready to make your little girl a creative genius? Oh, your little one would love this Disney Princess Decorate-Your-Own-Accessories wherein they can design their own accessories with rhinestones. Fashionista wannabe at such a young age lol From PhP999 to PhP400!  How's that for a huge savings!

Watch out for my other finds in the next few posts! This is life... I love shopping ; p

The Spa Rockwell

por | | 0 comments

My event: November 17, 2010

R2 level, Archaeology Wing
Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center
Makati City
4706868   4707878

November 17 12am was my flight back to Manila from Singapore. OMG, I can't even begin how to tell you what happened to me on the plane but I am very happy to say that I had a relaxing time at The Spa.

So, I was late. I seldom get late during events but you have to give me break. I got home at 5am and was up and about by 8am. I was not able to catch some zzz's on the plane, you know! Plus, OK, I will tell you what happened on the plane. First, I had a splitting headache, then I took 2 paracetamol on board then puke. How's that for a good vacation ending, huh? It's a wise decision to attend this intimate gathering because I was able to enjoy some pampering. I deserve it lol

 Oriental Foot Therapy PhP750

I was able to try The Spa's Oriental Foot Therapy. It is approximately 1 hour treatment. First, my feet was soaked in warm water filled with herbs. Then, the therapist massaged my feet and legs by kneading with oil. The best part for me was the warm towel wrapped on both my feet and legs. I feel so relaxed especially because she covered my eyes with a cloth. If not for the people talking outside the room where I was in, the experience would have been perfect and I would have slept the entire time!

Barre 3 ballet barrre meets yoga and pilates; Sadie Lincoln on right

After the relaxing massage, I was toured around by Dincee Caluag of GreenBulb PR. The 330sqm facility of The Spa Rockwell is the fourth branch to house Barre 3 exercise studio. Other branches with Barre classes are Alabang, The Fort and Eastwood. Sadie Lincoln, founder of Barre 3, graced the event but sad to say, I was not able to meet her as she was already handling a 60 minute class.

The Spa, now on its 14th year, is truly a one stop place for people who are in need of relaxing, pampering and wellness experience.

The Spa can also be found at these addresses: Acropolis, Eastwood, Alabang, Trinoma, Greenbelt and The Fort!

Chutney di fichi all'aceto balsamico

INGREDIENTI

fichi freschi: 300 gr (già sbucciati)
cipollotti: 150 gr (già puliti e compresa la parte verde)
aceto balsamico: 50 ml
zucchero di canna: 2 cucchiai rasi
miscela "quatre épices": 1 cucchiaino e mezzo
semi di senape: 1 cucchiaino
cardamomo: 1/3 di cucchiaino
coriandolo macinato: 1/3 di cucchiaino
sale fino: 1 cucchiaino e mezzo
peperoncino macinato: più che potete...

Sciacquate e sbucciate i fichi, pesatene 300 gr e tagliateli a grossi pezzi.

Merienda Time: Fu Chi Dumpling's cuapao

por | | 0 comments

Ever since DH and I discovered Fu Chi Dumpling in Banawe, we have been going back and craving for more of their cuapao. I know, right, it should have been their dumplings that we are craving since it's the restaurant's name but we really like love their cuapao.

Their cuapao is always gone by the time we were there around 5 in the afternoon so you have to sometimes phone in your order to reserve and specify your pick up time. Or sometimes, we are too early and the special soft bread has not yet been delivered.

The cuapao is prepared only upon ordering. So, you are guaranteed with freshness. The cuapao is served still warm.

The picture below was my take out cuapao heated in microwave oven for a minute. The same aroma, softness of the bread and delicious fillings eventhough it has been sitting in our ref for over a day.

Cuapao means folded steamed sweet buns with filling usually hung ma (pork stew).

Mushroom Crostini

por | | 0 comments

A little while ago I had my cousin, Megan, and good friend, Sarah, over for dinner. I wanted to have a warm appetizer for us while we waited for the main meal of a warm goat cheese salad and chicken marbella. I picked up a whole grain baguette and some strong smelling blue cheese from East Village Cheese which is my favorite store for cheese, marinated artichoke hearts and dolmas. I am a huge fan of mushrooms and when mixed with a creamy sauce, I think they taste delicious with pasta, salad, crackers or bread. I served these warm on toasted bread. The leftovers I had the following morning on bread for a sandwich with sun dried tomatoes and spinach. The lovely thing about this mushroom mixture is the blue cheese makes for a subtle tanginess and extra creamy texture. Rather than using real cream for this I decided to use soy milk with provides for a still creamy flavor but much healthier and lighter flavor.

Mushroom Crostini

Ingredients:
12 ounces mixed mushrooms (I used bella button mushrooms and shitake), chopped

3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon thyme
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup soy milk
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
1 whole grain baguette, sliced

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium high heat. Saute the garlic for a couple minutes and add in the mushrooms. Saute until mushrooms are soft, about 4 minutes. Add in the soy milk and sprinkle the thyme in and saute until all the soy milk is absorbed. Then add in the crumbled blue cheese and turn off the heat and saute to melt the cheese. Set mixture aside.
3. On a baking sheet toast the bread slices for about 4 minutes. Remove from oven and top each slice with a generous amount of the mushroom mixture. Place the sheet back into the oven until it is heated through, about 8 minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!

Saving Tomato Seeds

por | | 0 comments

My friend, Matt, is so smart.  He just gave me some tomato seeds that he saved in a unique way:

He just scooped tomato seeds onto labelled index cards, guts and all.  Then he let them dry.  When it's time to plant them, you just need to flick the seeds off the card.  He was careful with the seed cards.  He stored them in a paper envelope.  I was a little more careless because I transported them to my house loose in my purse.  I lost a couple of cherry tomato seeds, but not many.

Too bad I didn't have more varieties which seeds fell off in my purse.  I would have played the tomato mystery game by planting the seeds and trying to guess which tomatoes would come from which plants.  This is similar to the game that I play in the spring with the volunteer tomatoes in my garden.

We had a strange coincidence last year.  When it came time to trade seeds, we ended up having  8 of 10 of the same heirloom varieties.  We didn't plan our seed buying in advance and we bought from different sources.  This year, we only have a couple of varieties in common.

Quindi: o ve li raccogliete passeggiando in qualche landa campestre d'autunno, o ce li avete in giardino.

Fatelo bollire a fuoco vivace, mescolando continuamente.

Starbucks: Cinnamon roll and Lemon Poppy Seed muffin

My visit: October 24, 2010

EDSA corner Shaw Blvd.,
Mandaluyong City

Before my blog turns into an all fashion blog, I am sharing a food post for all you foodies out there!

cinnamon roll PhP49

Sneaky me, always when DH is not around, I will order a cinnamon roll. I am a late bloomer when it comes to the cinnamon taste. My palate was not accustomed to it but I learned how to like it. Now, I enjoyed it so much that I end up ordering it every time I go to Starbucks... without DH of course lol

lemon poppy seed muffin PhP49

It lets out a lemon scent but it was the glaze on top that attracted me to it. My mom doesn't like it. It's quite dry on the inside. But the lemon scent... I can still remember as I type away.

Jurlique Free Facial!

por | | 0 comments

My visit: November 23, 2010

Ground level, Greenbelt 5
Makati City
7299854

You all remembered how I drove to Makati by my lonesome, right? It wasn't just to attend Naturteq but also to have a 30 minute free facial massage at Jurlique worth PhP1000.

To give you  brief background , Jurlique is a brand from Australia and has been with skin care industry for almost 25 years. They grow and bottled their products to assure consumers that what they apply on their skin is organic and the finest there is.

Left to Right:
  • Jurlique Balancing Cleansing Lotion- a hydrating cleansing lotion to remove the day; rosewood and lavender
  • Jurlique Eye Makeup Remover
  • Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist- a replenishing mist of lavender and marshmallows to hydrate, tone and smooth skin
  • Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Refining Treatment
  • Jurlique Skin Balancing Oil- a non greasy oil to moisturize and balance skin
  • Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Facial Serum
  • Jurlique Moisture Replenishing Day Cream

with Theresa of Jurlique

Theresa have gentle hands and I nearly fell asleep. My face felt renewed after the massage. It was a relaxing experience if not for another sales representative coming in and out of the cramp space at the back of the store where I lay in bed having my facial done.

Thanks to Jurlique for a 30 minute break time!

Blogger Event: SM Sta. Mesa Wifi at the Foodcourt

por | | 0 comments
My event: February 28, 2010

SM Sta. Mesa
Foodcourt,
Quezon City

It seems to me that SM has been stepping up the ante by providing its consumer the best! SM has gone wireless!

A group of bloggers were invited last February 28 to witness and try the power of their wifi connection. It surely delivered because the wifi signal was strong and FAST!

Jollibee and Pizza Hut sponsored SM blogger event

Below are just some of the of the stalls and kiosk like Lugaw ni Juan, Balay Ilocos, Pancit Malabon, Kusina ni Gracia, Baliwag Lechon, Lechon de Cebu and Inihaw Express. All are found in the food court of SM Sta. Mesa which filled our tummy while enjoying the free wifi connectivity!

It was an afternoon of fun! After the show and tell of some websites- mine included, every blogger went home with a raffle prize courtesy of sponsors such as Jollibee, Island Gas and Pizza Hut. And full tummies!

Thanks SM!
